Experience your adventure through the reserve accompanied by an experienced local guide. Your guide’s trained eye will be able to point out wildlife that you might otherwise miss, like deer, foxes, squirrels, tamandua, peccaries, and condors. DISCOVER CHAPARRÍ

Apu, the spirit of the mountains, has been sacred in Peru since ancient times. The Chaparrí hill is revered as a natural sanctuary where Apu is in all things. The Chaparrí Ecological Reserve is home to the densest population of Andean bears in the world, and it is home to the endangered Pava Aliblanca. More than 290 registered bird species make the reserve an incredible attraction for bird watchers from around the world. Chaparrí, the first private conservation area in Peru, is a wondrous place where ancient spiritualization, history, and nature come together.

ARRIVAL TO CHAPARRÍ
You will arrive at the Interpretation Center where your guide will provide details about the reserve, its interesting and unique flora and fauna, the route you will be taking, and important points to consider as you begin your adventure.
15 MINUTES LATER
The adventure gets underway in the herpetarium where you will observe reptiles, amphibians, and native insects of this ecological region.
REST POINT
To get to the Andean Bear rescue center you will first come through 3 posts where you will be given an opportunity to enjoy the view of the landscape that surrounds you. Spend your time resting in the shade as your guide fills the air with stories of the area and the culture here.
RESCUE CENTER
The Andean Bears that you will find here have been rescued by environmental authorities. They are observed in their natural habitat within wide semi-captive environments.
DO YOU KNOW WHAT A JAGÜEY IS?
Less than 5 minutes away from the rescue center, you will find a natural water outcrop that has turned the area into an amazing oasis that is not to be missed.

In honor of Mama Quilla (from the Quechua, "Mother Moon") in the Inca religion, this was the site of worship of the ancient Mochica and is where rituals on water and agriculture were performed.

RETURN
At the end of the adventure, we will begin our journey back toward Chiclayo from the reserve parking area.
